A mammal physiology team tested how wind affects heat loss from artificial fur samples modeled on Arctic fox coats. Fur samples of equal thickness were placed in a cold wind tunnel at wind speeds of 0, 10, and 20 kilometers per hour. The tunnel temperature stayed at minus 5 degrees Celsius. Sensors recorded heat loss from each sample.
