Read the passage.
A novel alternates between court transcripts and a character's private journal. The transcripts present events in formal, impersonal language; the journal records doubts that the court record excludes.
Near the end, a transcript repeats a phrase that first appeared only in the journal. The repetition does not prove that the court has gained access to the private text. It unsettles the apparent boundary between official record and subjective memory.
Target question: “Why does the passage end by saying that the boundary between record and memory is unsettled?”
Which plan avoids both over-rereading and an evidence window that is too narrow?
