A thermos is designed to keep liquids hot or cold for a long time. Inside, it has two walls
with a space between them. That space often contains a vacuum, which has very little air. With
little air, heat has a harder time moving by conduction. Some thermoses also have shiny
surfaces that reflect heat. A tight lid keeps warm air in and cold air out. Because of these
features, the temperature changes more slowly.
